  • Silent No Longer

It seems, that Americans are silent no longer.  We want this country back... and we're going to GET it back.  I never thought I'd see the day that enough people finally start to wake up... to actually make a difference.  Short of violent revolution, anyway... and that isn't something that I would look forward to seeing, except as an absolute last resort when tyranny has completely overthrown our Constitutional government.  But I digress.  Instead of me sitting here babbling about it, take a look at what I'm talking about.

    We Want This Country Back
    by carl klang

    []

    I had this crazy dream
About some folks who loved this country
Who all began to dream the same dream
    And when the mornin' came
    There arose across this nation
People thinkin' one and the same
And they awoke to find their freedom
    And all their liberties
    Had gradually been taken away
And when they realized the danger to their posterity
I heard those Patriotic people say....

    We want this Country back!
    We ain't just jokin' jack!
    We want our liberty
    And our dignity
And our freedoms and our rights restored
    We want this Country back!
She's been driven way off track
    We're wide awake
And we're madder than hell now
And we ain't gonna take it anymore!
And we ain't gonna take it anymore!

    Remember golden days
When the Stars and Strips forever
    Symbolized her glorious name "AMERICA"
But now it's all been changed
And when we gaze upon Old Glory
It's hard to fight back feelin's of shame
We're fed up with lyin' politicians
    And greedy corporations
    Who have sold us out
    Time and again
And we're sick and tired of sendin'
    Our soldiers off to wars
That we were never meant to win

    We want this Country back!
    We ain't just jokin' jack!
    We want our liberty
    And our dignity
And our freedoms and our rights restored
    We want this country back!
She's been driven way off track
    We're wide awake
And we're madder than hell now!
And we ain't gonna take it anymore
No we're not gonna take it anymore!

Now we know our cause is right
And our victory's on the way
And we won't give up the fight
'Till we hear two hundred million say

    We want this Country back!
    We ain't just jokin' jack!
    We want our liberty
    And our dignity
And our freedoms and our rights restored
    We want this Country back!
And we ain't taken anymore flack!
    We're wide awake
And we're madder than hell now!
And we ain't gonna take it anymore!
No we're not gonna take it anymore!
That's right we're no gonna take it anymore!

Are you tired yet of administration after administration - from both parties - ignoring the will of the people?  Are you tired of your "representatives," not representing you?  Are you tired of watching politicians trample the constitution in favor of their own agendas?

ARE YOU READY TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED?

Great message.  how many will actually sing it out and directly at our Congress and President and every other jerk who believes more in rights that righteousness, taxing us than serving us.  Arise, "we the people"

  • Zeal4living

Why were the American's silent in the first place?

  • radicalramblings

@Zeal4living - Well I think many of us have been personally grumbling as individuals for years - but you didn't see that, because one or two people speaking out is easy to cover up.  So everyone else who wanted to speak out, thought that the were alone - and were equally ineffective.  Even now, certain media outlets are claiming the march Saturday was staged by "astroturfers," when it is clear to anyone who saw the original live coverage on multiple media outlets that it represents a huge and diverse group of Americans - young and old, white and black, rich and poor, veterans, volunteers, numerous religions and professions... and I am certain that at least one of my readers will be by shortly to try to make this seem small and insignificant.  I think the real question is, why have so many been willfully blind to the truth?

  • BimmerPhile

It's great to see people standing up to the government...........but, call me cynical, I don't think it'll have any effect.  The government won't listen because it's not in the government's interest to listen.  Despite what we try to tell ourselves, we can't force them to do anything.  The government has all the tanks, bombs, and hundreds of thousands of soldiers who wouldn't think twice about shooting American civilians if the government tells them to because "they must be the enemy; the government can do no wrong".  I just really don't think anything will ever change in this country until people get mad enough to start shooting.

  • radicalramblings

@BimmerPhile - That, my friend, is exactly the value of these types of protests.  When we are alone, or in small groups, it is easy for the government to demonize us (look what they did at Ruby Ridge and Waco) ... BUT when there are a million plus people, representing all aspects of society, it becomes harder to easily brush them aside as lone nuts.  And if they try to do so anyway, through typical government violence, there is a much greater chance that other civilians will not believe the "party line" that they were just dangerous nuts.

  • sick_of_dreams

being a libertarian I feel that we have delved way too far into government control. ex: it's really disturbes me that the government can now ditate the flavors a product can be manufacured in!

  • radicalramblings

@sick_of_dreams - Are you a Libertarian, or an American?  I'm done defining myself by political party.

  • thereluctantsinger

I am more than ready to stand up and be heard.  Have been for some time.

  • sick_of_dreams

@radicalramblings - Um there is no need for disrespect. I didn't disrespect you if anything I agreed with you.

  • radicalramblings

@sick_of_dreams - I'm sorry you feel my statement is disrespectful... it was a question, and a personal statement.  If that offends you, this probably isn't the site for you.  Most of what I write will be far more offensive to you.

  • sick_of_dreams

@radicalramblings - You will catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar.

  • BimmerPhile

@sick_of_dreams - apparently you equate "honesty" with "vinegar". That's too bad.

  • sick_of_dreams

@BimmerPhile - um no. you obviously misunderstood me. Iwas just trying to point out that sometime saying things nicely will reach a lot more people than taking a harsh tone.

  • radicalramblings

@sick_of_dreams - What "vinegar" are you referring to?  Written word has no tone.  If you're implying a negative one, you're the one with the issue.

  • sick_of_dreams

@radicalramblings - I never knew people could get so upset when they were being agreed with.

I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

  • radicalramblings

@sick_of_dreams - The only one upset here is you, and we still don't know why.

  • sick_of_dreams

@radicalramblings - whoa I'm not upset I just didn't like you implying that I was being un american in saying I was a libertarian.

You were the one who replied (and then edited) accusing me of having my panties in a wad and then saying you were sick of me.

I really hope you have a great day! :)

  • BimmerPhile

@sick_of_dreams - She never accused you of being un-American.  All she said was that she prefers to simply say "I'm an American" instead of saying "I'm a Republican / Democrat / Libertarian".

  • radicalramblings

@sick_of_dreams - Yes you're right, I am sick of you.  I'm sick of whatever game you are trying to play in this thread.  Come back next month, after you've cooled off.  Game over.

@BimmerPhile - It's obviously just someone who is bored and trolling for a response.  Ignore him.  He can try again next month (everyone is unblocked at the end of each month).

  • MyFreedomWings

I was under the impression that I was already standing. But sure. ^_^' ready as I only ever am.

Tired of it? Try used to it and looking for solutions, xD

  • ASkiner

What I can't understand is given that Congress has near a 20% approval rating, yet the same representatives keep getting voted in over and over. Well, I do understand. It is because we only have 2 main parties.

  • BimmerPhile

    @ASkiner - 20%?  Wow.  I'd have guess it was more like 2%.

  • coolmonkey

Well, no form of government will make everyone happy, and if you look at it, no matter how bad ours seems, it's light years better than most others in the world.  The only other alternative is pure anarchy, and I don't think any of us want that.

  • radicalramblings

@ASkiner - You hit the nail on the head there.  Until we get away from the false-dichotomy of dems vs. the gop, it's just going to be more and more of the same.

@coolmonkey - No one is suggesting that we overthrow the government and resort to anarchy.  We're just demanding that our governing officials follow the documents upon which our government is based.

  • saturnnights

Which is why I say there is no real difference between the political parties.  All are bought and paid for, before they get into office.  The ones who aren't, die.
